In all of Minnesota, there is one place in the Twin Cities where you see a tunnel and that is at Westminster. This tunnel and the smaller tunnels by it were built in 1885 as a joint trackage for the Northern Pacific, Great Northern, and Milwaukee Road. That was over 100 years ago and thankfully by the busy lines of the BNSF, CP Rail, and UP. This tunnel still sees trains daily after 126 years after being built. |
